Downtown Portland Condo November 02 2015

Interior Design by Gregory Crowe

The Setting:
2 Bedroom Condo located in SW Downtown, Portland.

The Challenge:
The clients are East Coast transplants who moved from a traditional, single-family home into much less square footage. They requested a space that would be sophisticated and stylish but comfortable and cozy enough to entertain the grandkids when they spent the night. With the exception of the master bedroom, all new furniture was specified as well as lighting and most of the accessories.

The Solution:
A cherished piece of art purchased while traveling hangs above the narrow entry table as you enter. Runners with a bold graphic pattern lead the eye to the home office/guest bedroom and beyond to the main living area.

In the office/guest bedroom, a sleeper sofa covered in kid-friendly fabric is the perfect place for a sleepover with the grandkids or an afternoon nap.

The dining area is small in size, but big in style. A large pendant light creates drama above the table while four comfortable chairs upholstered in tone-on-tone fabric invite guests to linger after dinner. When there are more guests, two adjacent occasional chairs covered in a contemporary houndstooth pattern provide additional seating around the expandable table.

The living area mixes neutral fabric and leather upholstered seating with glass, chrome and other silver finishes for sheen and sparkle. A custom painted chest tucks away in a niche--the perfect place for the TV.

The accent wall behind the sofa is painted in a soft lavender color that ties in with the pop of brighter plum upholstery on the island counter stools. The area rug has a large-scaled pattern that takes center stage under the glass topped cocktail table.
